This is the best book I have ever read!!! - Being an Arizona native, I bought this book thinking the history would be interesting. I cannot believe how much I fell in love with Sarah Prine. She is one of the greatest literary heroine I have every encountered! This book grabs you from the first sentence. You feel as though you have found a new best friend in Sarah. Her amazing love affair with Jack is a love story which surpasses that of Rhett & Scarlet or Romeo and Juliet. With its rich characters and amazing landscape, the story will remain with you, even after you have turned the last page!
TRANSPORTS YOU BACK IN TIME VIA COVERED WAGON - This is a book that I would never have picked out on my own but I'm so thankful that it was recommended to me by a poster on one of the book boards. Just the cover alone makes the purchase worthwhile. I especially liked the way Nancy Turner wrote this book in the form of a diary which is written over the course of 20 years. The two main characters, Sarah Prine and Captain Jack Elliott, are larger than life. She's smart, great with a gun and stubborn. He's ornery, romantic and loves her more than life itself. What a match and what a book. I recently recommended this to my book group and they've been raving about it ever since. My only disappointment is that I had to finish it.
Loved it - Agree with all the five star reviews. Would have liked to have Twobuddy, too, settling on the farm, in the end. After all, he saved Captain Elliots live, and Bear is there, too. Doesn't seem to be fair, but I know Sarah would not have judged that prio one in her Situation and even really possible. Other than that, a great story!
